Kelvin Perry

President

Mr. Perry is a retired business executive. He was President and CEO of Newspaper Electronics Corporation for 37 years prior to retirement. He joined the company in 1978 as corporate controller and acquired it in 1980. Mr. Perry was previously associated with CDC-KC and the public accounting firms of Arthur Andersen and Lester Witte & Co. He is one of the original founders of the Black Chamber, serving first as its Treasurer (1984-1987) and President (1988-1994). Among the community and civic boards Mr. Perry has served are the Kansas City Greater Chamber of Commerce, Kansas City Tax Increment Financing Commission, Consumer Credit Council of Greater Kansas City and the Center for Business Innovation. He is a native of Tallahassee, Florida, and a 1974 graduate of Florida A&M University’s School of Business & Industry.

Ruth Turner

Vice President

W. Ruth Turner, P.E. is principal of 3T-Design & Development L.L.C., a Kansas City-based civil engineering, urban planning, data & construction management and real estate & community development firm. Throughout her career, Ms. Turner has provided project and program management for the government and construction sectors. She has 37 years of experience in planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure projects and programs with 22 of the 37 years working for the City of Kansas City, Missouri. During her tenure with the city, she managed several high-profile programs including the Kansas City Government Optimization Program (WSD KC-GO), Citywide Stormwater Management Plan (KC-One), WSD Headquarters Office and WSD Facilities Engineering Division.  As business owner, she has participated in the delivery of several large-scale public infrastructure projects including Smart Sewer, KC Streetcar and KCI New Single Terminal.  Ms. Turner’s expertise makes her an essential contributor to community development and organizational excellence. She is a civic leader serving on boards/committees. 

 

Ruth holds a bachelor’s in civil engineering and MBA in urban planning from University of Kansas. She also holds license and certifications as a Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri, Envision™ Sustainability Specialist, and Ordained Minister – General Council of the Assemblies of God.

Summery-LM2 Construction & Consulting was founded by LaTasha McCall in 2016. The company is a 100% minority women-owned General Contractor. LaTasha was born and raised in Kansas City and has over 27 years of experience in both private and government sectors. Her approach to construction is a hands-on style in the operation and management of projects. LaTasha has witnessed firsthand the growth of the City into a premier metropolitan area that promotes family values. This deep-rooted tie has allowed her to become one of the most respected and recognized names in construction. She serves as the Membership Chair.

TANYA SCOTT

VICE PRESIDENT

Tanya Scott is the President and CEO of Blue Chip Roofing & Waterproofing, LLC, (Blue Chip) a commercial and industrial contractor based out of Kansas City, Missouri. She is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the organization while maximizing growth and profitability.

Tanya formed Blue Chip with her husband in April, 2019 and opened the doors in July of 2019 with just two employees.  Under Tanya’s leadership, the company has grown to more than 50 employees installing commercial and industrial roof systems across the Midwest and Southwest.

Tanya has more than twenty years of executive leadership experience and is a PMI Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). She has successfully managed various multi-million dollar projects across a variety of industries, including Construction and Healthcare.

Tanya holds a Bachelors of Science degree from DeVry University and an MBA from Columbia College.

Ajamu K. Webster

Mr. Webster is President and Chief Executive Officer of DuBois Consultants, Inc., a civil and structural engineering firm. Mr. Webster started DuBois Consultants in 1988 after having first been associated with the local firms, Butler Manufacturing and Burns and McDonnell. The firm now includes a staff of 23 employees committed to providing tailored engineering design services. He is active in the civic affairs of Kansas City having served as a Parks Board Commissioner and on the Missouri Training and Employment Commission. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Loan Corporation Committee for the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City. Mr. Webster is a native of Los Angeles, California, and a 1980 graduate of Southern University’s College of Sciences and Engineering. He is a Professional Engineer.
